Whirlwind

Well, my intentions to blog weekly are always derailed by one thing or another.  Or many things.

Sparkle and I signed up to perform in a play put on by our church.  You may recall that 2 years ago DH, Comet and I were in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and had a blast.  This year we are teaming up with another catholic community and performing a different musical.  Rehearsals have ramped up, and this week we are rehearsing or performing for one solid week.  This is on top of my regular 32 hour a week work schedule.  So, I am running from 6 AM till 9 PM.

To top it off, we got puppy fever after visiting a friend.  We fell in love with the family dog, a Schnau-Tzu.  Even Comet liked the dog, and he and dogs have had a sketchy relationship in the past.  All the next week we surfed the net, looking at dog pictures and breeds.  And the next Saturday DH woke up and said, “Let’s go look at dogs.”  And dear reader, you know that a person does not drive 2 hours to look at dogs and come home empty handed.  And that is how we ended up with Luna.

She has changed our lives completely.  My whole morning is now dedicated to getting her fed and walked, and getting the kids ready for the day.  We’ve learned to pay attention to her needs and cues, and made plenty of mistakes along the way. We’ve also had huge successes.  She has learned basic commands: sit, down, come, up.  She is figuring out that people are not chew toys.  She sleeps in the kitchen, in her dog bed, and has no accidents (ok, I do wake up at 2 or 3 to take her out.)

And she is darn cute.
